2015 National Seminar on Mining Reclamation Techniques

Seminar Nasional Teknik Reklamasi Tambang 2015

On 20-22 October 2015, IPB Science Park Bogor witnessed the presence of experts and practitioners who joined the National Seminar on Mining Reclamation Techniques. This event was held with the main aim of discussing and exploring the latest strategies in utilizing ameliorant materials to repair ex-mining land.

Theme: Utilization of Ameliorant Materials for Repairing Ex-Mining Land

In the context of globalization and industrial growth, mining activities have become an inseparable part of the economies of many countries. However, the impact of these activities on the environment cannot be ignored. Ex-mining land often becomes a degraded area that requires technical solutions for rehabilitation and reclamation.

In this three-day seminar, experts and participants from various related disciplines, such as environmental science, agronomy, soil chemistry and environmental engineering, shared their knowledge and experience in efforts to restore ex-mining land.

In-depth Discussion of Ameliorant Materials

One of the main highlights of this seminar was the discussion of ameliorant materials that are effective in the reclamation process of ex-mining land. Ameliorant materials are important elements used to increase soil fertility, control erosion, and minimize the negative impacts of mining waste.

Intense discussions regarding the types of ameliorant materials, such as organic compost, agricultural waste, industrial waste, biofertilizers, and the latest technology in making ameliorants, became the main focus in understanding the best way to restore soil fertility affected by mining activities.

Emphasis on Sustainability and Innovation

Apart from that, this seminar also highlights sustainability aspects in mine reclamation practices. In an effort to reduce the environmental footprint of mining activities, it is important to adopt innovative and sustainable approaches in designing effective reclamation techniques.

Seminar participants were given in-depth insight into how to apply environmentally friendly principles and the latest technology to ensure that mine reclamation practices not only restore land, but also minimize negative impacts on the surrounding ecosystem.
